Real Madrid went shopping abroad while La Liga sold off its fringes at home

La Liga posted a €283.6M net spend this window, but the two biggest incoming deals — Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig and Anthony Gordon from Newcastle — both came from outside the league entirely, while most of the league's outgoing business was smaller, domestic housekeeping.

La Liga clubs spent €747.75M across 62 signings and sold €464.17M across 51 deals this window, a €283.6M net outlay. What stands out is where the money went: Real Madrid's two headline arrivals, Yan Diomande (€125M) and Marc Cucurella (€55M), came from RB Leipzig and Chelsea respectively — foreign imports rather than moves poached from a fellow La Liga club. FC Barcelona followed the same pattern, bringing in Anthony Gordon (€80M) from Newcastle. The league's biggest spending this summer flowed outward to other leagues' clubs, not into bidding wars with its own rivals.

The outgoing side tells a smaller, tidier story: La Liga's top sales this window — Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain (€45M), Gonzalo García to Fulham (€40M) — are real money, but nowhere near the scale of the league's marquee incoming fees. That asymmetry (importing blockbuster signings, exporting squad depth) is a different shape of net spend than the Premier League's internal churn, and it means La Liga's spending power this summer was measured against Bundesliga and Premier League asking prices, not against its own clubs' valuations.
