Our Approach

How We Value Players

Mercato XI uses a quantitative model to estimate the market value of every player. Here's how it works.

The Model at a Glance

Our model analyzes each player's real performance data from the current season and applies multipliers based on objective market factors. Every valuation is recalculated daily using the latest statistics.

Performance Score

Goals, assists, xG, tackles, interceptions — weighted by position. A striker is evaluated on goals, a defender on duels won.

Age Curve

Young players (18-24) receive a premium, peak is at 25-27, then value declines gradually. A 20-year-old with equal stats is valued higher than a 30-year-old.

League Strength

The Premier League commands the highest transfer fees, so it gets a higher multiplier. Second divisions and smaller leagues get lower multipliers.

Club Tier

Elite clubs (Real Madrid, Man City, PSG) add a premium. Mid-table clubs have a more neutral multiplier reflecting their transfer market power.

Data Pipeline

1

Daily at 6:00 AM UTC

We collect statistics for 10,000+ players across 21 leagues via the Sportmonks API. Goals, assists, shots, dribbles, tackles — 40+ metrics per player.

Daily at 7:30 AM UTC

The model recomputes all 8,500+ valuations by applying per-90 performance scores, age curves, league multipliers, and European competition bonuses.

3

Weekly on Sundays at 5:00 AM UTC

Squads for 460 clubs are synced with Sportmonks to reflect transfers, loans, and position changes.

What Makes Us Different

Daily updatesNo quarterly updates. Our valuations reflect yesterday's match performance.

Data-drivenNo subjective opinions. The model uses only measurable statistics: goals, assists, minutes, rating. Every number can be traced back to on-pitch data.

TransparentEvery valuation shows a confidence score. A player with few minutes gets a lower confidence rating. You always know how much data backs the number.

21 leaguesFrom the Premier League to the Polish Ekstraklasa. Every player is valued in the context of their league's transfer market.

Confidence Score

Every valuation comes with a confidence score (0-100%). This score reflects the quantity and quality of available data:

High confidence

2000+ minutes, major league

65-84%

Solid confidence

1000+ minutes, complete data

<65%
